L'HOCKEY FOLIE PROGRAM

The inaugural season of l'Hockey Folie runs for the academic year of 2009-2010. In the first month, boys and girls aged 6-10 from le Centre Aéré de Toulouse are invited to several "Discover Hockey" sessions where can try on provided inline hockey equipment and receive introductory technical instruction in a fun environment. Following the "Discover Hockey" period, attendees who both exhibit a strong interest in continuing to learn the sport, and also demonstrate a commitment to following the strong ethical codes of Hocklines Toulouse, are invited to join the club's Inline Hockey School. In the Hocklines Toulouse Roller Hockey School, led by an A. Scott Foundation volunteer, l'Hockey Folie participants are placed amongst other children in the school where they will enjoy weekly instruction on the fundamental's of the sport and receive lessons about its history.

In order to eliminate any financial barriers to participation, the A. Scott Foundation provides all of l'Hockey Folie's services - including club membership and equipment - at no cost. Organized team sports are a proven aid to forming cooperative, positive individuals, and all children should have access to such opportunities.

The A. Scott Foundation is confident that the challenges of learning a new sport and the subsequent joys brought by improvement, will spark a new, healthy interest in the lives of l'Hockey Folie participants. At the conclusion of l'Hockey Folie, the A. Scott Foundation plans to make the utmost effort to ensure that all participants who so desire will be able to continue their participation and development as members of Hocklines Toulouse.

Decouvert l'Hockey (Discover Hockey)

L'Hockey Folie begins with the "Decouvert l'Hockey" sessions from the Centre d'Aére, which hosted 20 boys and girls. The A. Scott Foundation's and Hocklines Toulouse partnership is supported by Le Service Enfance Toulouse and le Mairie de Toulouse and strives to introduce deserving children to the wide-reaching benefits of organized sports.

Let the games begin...

The Hockey Folie participants continue to improve at practice each week and have now begun playing inter-squad hockey games. The participants are very excited to be playing with sticks and pucks while learning the rules of the sport.
